Carpe Diem!

Seize the Day!

Seize the Day arr. by Roger Emerson:

Open the gates and seize the day.

Don’t be afraid and don’t delay.

Nothing can break us.

No one can make us give our rights away.

Arise and seize the day.

Now is the time to seize the day. (Echo)

Send out the call and join the fray. (Echo)

Wrongs will be righted if we’re united.

Let us seize the day.

Friends of the friendless seize the day. (Echo)

Raise up the torch and light the way. (Echo)

Proud and defiant we’ll slay the giant.

Let us seize the day.

Neighbor to neighbor, father to son.

One for all and all for one.

Open the gates and seize the day.

Don’t be afraid and don’t delay.

Nothing can break us.

No one can make us give our rights away.

Neighbor to neighbor, father to son.

One for all and all for one.

Neighbor to neighbor, father to son.

One for all and all for one!

Neighbor to neighbor, father to son.

One for all and all for one!

CALLING ALL DANCERS!

I'm looking acrobatic dancers to do simple choreography.

If you have any gymnastics experience, please volunteer.

Coordination, Cartwheels and Flips are what I need!

If you've never watched the movie "Newsies," you NEED to!

Please try to wear "Newsies clothing" to our 3rd rehearsal & mini-performance day on January 2nd 2016. We'll talk more about it during rehearsals.

Please make the following edits to your music:

The T2's should be singing the Baritone line at the beginning (bass clef top notes).

At ms. 11-12, T2's should sing the treble clef bottom notes (D, D, Eb, Eb, D).

T2's should stay with the T1's on page 5.

On Pg. 6, T2's should sing with T1's and then with Basses repeating the line, "Friends of the friendless seize the day" twice and, "Raise up the torch and light the way" twice as well.

On Pg. 7, T2's should go back to the bass clef and sing the top notes.

On Pg. 8, T2's should sing the treble clef bottom notes (Melody).

On Pgs. 8 & 9, beginning in measure 42, T2's should follow the same pattern as pg. 6 (repeat with both T1 & Basses).

On Pg. 9, measure 46 T2's should sing the bass clef top notes.

On Pg. 10, in measure 55, T2's should jump up to the treble clef bottom notes (Melody).

On the bottom of pg. 10, in measure 61, T2's should sing the bas clef top note. T1's will split on the top two notes in the treble clef.

On Pg. 11, measure 63, T2's should sing the melody in the treble clef bottom notes and then SHOUT "ONE" in measure 65.

Pg. 4 measure 11-12: Bass part should sing the top notes (It's the melody).

Pg. 8 measure 38-40: Bass part should sing the top notes.

Pg. 7 measure 29: Tenor 2 part should sing the same as Tenor 1 for the first two notes (F - Bb instead of D - F).

Pg. 9 measure 46: Tenor 2 part should sing the same as Tenor 1 for the first two notes (F - Bb instead of D - F).

Pg. 10-11 measures 61-64: Bass part should sing the top notes.

I was just wanting to know if we need newsies outfits by our next rehearsal or can we have them at least by the performance?

So the tenor 2 sing both verses like "friends of the friendless seize the day"? Then we do it again?

Hi Austin. Thanks for expressing your interest in the choreography for Seize the Day! I'm hoping to get this figured out soon and then put it all together at our next rehearsal. Do you have dancing experience? Thanks again!

I was just wondering for the choreographing what is over the top such as front walk overs. I will watch other performances to look over ideas.

I actually like shouting "one" at the end of this song instead of holding it. It seems enjoyable for the audience. This is a high energy, joy-filled song. We will do great if we remember words, pitches, and have fun. This will be a great finale song.

What staff should the tenor 2s be looking at for the most part.
